For beginner Cheerleaders
Step one:
One of the first things you will want to concentrate on in the beginning stages of becoming a cheerleader is your ability to tumble correctly.
It doesn't matter how old you are, it's never too late to learn how to tumble with the correct coaching. The first step is to find a good gym, and a good coach. Start with atleast one class a week. Once you have the correct motions of a cartwheel and round-off, you'll want to constantly be practicing at home. You might want to start taking 2-3 classes a week once your body gets used to it all(depending on when your try-outs are). If you're having trouble with your power, find ways to work out your legs daily. Such as running, squat jumps, and/or simply practicing your round-offs and cartwheels.

Step two:
Your jumps can either make or break you at try-outs, if you work hard enough your jumps can go from horrible to perfect in one month. It's very hard work to have perfect jumps, but it's a requirement in order to be a professional cheerleader. Your form is the first thing you want to fix, your form will make or break your height. You will definately need to be taking classes at least once a week. One thing you need to make sure of is that your cheast is always straight up when your jumping. Don't worry about your height for the first couple of months. Height will take time. But make sure your doing some kind of work out with your legs daily. Squat jumps and high kicks are very helpful.
Step three:
Dance and motions are huge parts of being a cheerleader, if you don't have good ability to dance then your chances are very slim. Your motions must be clean and sharp. Only classes with professional coaches can fix motions. But dance is different. You can look up dances on the internet and practice them at home. You want to increase your ability to learn quickly because you will have a week maximum to learn the dance for your cheer try-outs. Dance won't take as much effort as getting your jumps and form correct or learning to tumble. But it is just as important. Always remember to work out your legs. It will help all three catagories.
